Keyword research and selection is the process of determining what keywords to target for a given site. For example, a website selling short-term apartment accommodation in Barcelona, Spain could target ‘holiday apartments Barcelona’, ‘Barcelona apartments’, ‘holiday let Barcelona’ or any one of a host of other permutations. Working out what keywords, if targeted, might result in interested customers finding the site falls under ‘keyword research’.

Once the list of possible keywords is formed, there must be a decision to narrow the selection down to one or a number of keywords over the others, in order to be cost-effective. Among other things, this could be based on, for example, how often that keyword gets typed into search engines. Obviously, there’s less reason to target a keyword that is not searched for very often.

SEO PhilosophyWhen it is the question of website optimization, the most important question that can intrigue a website owner is whether he or she can rank number one on the search engines. When people ask me about this, I try to explain it to them that this goal of becoming number one is not something which can be achieved in a day or two, that it is a long process and requires a lot of time and effort, but I think  I always lose them somewhere on the way to my explanations, especially in the part which talks about “keywords” meta tags, etc. and we miss the most important thing about SEO, exactly the “SEO Philosophy”.

So what is the SEO philosophy ?

You have to think like your target audience if you want to work for SEO. You have to reflect on what information they might require and provide them with the same in a friendly, simple, and accurate manner.
